- Audubon-ish Pelican
I LOVE the colors in this one - and the crazy, palette knife strokes. I painted this one fast, but I remember praying really hard as I worked on this one. Sometimes I can really feel the presence of God when I paint, and this one is proof: it's both precise (when I don't feel the presence of God and forge ahead, my paintings can get way out of control) and free. I loved painting this bird inspired both by Audubon's Pelican and my favorite place - Key West.
- Audubon-ish Parrot
This is one of my daughter's favorites. Our whole front room is full of large scale bird paintings inspired by the work of John James Audubon AND Key West, where he spent some time painting local birds.
- Audubon-ish Flamingo
I'm VERY inspired by John James Audubon. We visit his museum in Key West... well, not the museum per say, but the gift shop - ha! I have mugs with his work on them & it's sort of a game for me in the morning whether or not one of my bird mugs will be clean. I absolutely love the scope of his work.
